Joanna Pasternak
Principal Solicitor
Joanna is the Principal Solicitor of the practice and holds dual degrees in Law and International Studies from Macquarie University. She completed her Practical Legal Training under the supervision of experienced practitioners and was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of New South Wales in August 2020. She is a member of the New South Wales Law Society.
Joanna acts for clients across a wide spectrum of criminal and traffic matters, with regular appearances in the Local, District, and Supreme Courts of New South Wales.
Her experience includes:
- Preparing and appearing in bail applications at all court levels
- Representing clients in sentencing proceedings in both summary and indictable jurisdictions
- Conducting defended hearings in the Local Court, including more involved and contested matters
- Advising and appearing in matters involving domestic and family violence, including applications for and challenges to apprehended violence orders
- Assisting in cases involving serious sexual offences
- Acting in matters concerning financial and corporate-related offences
- Representing clients in drug-related matters, including possession and supply allegations of varying complexity
- Bringing and responding to applications under sections 14 and 19 of the Mental Health and Cognitive Impairment Forensic Provisions Act 2020 (NSW)
- Appearing in appellate matters, including licence appeals, and conviction and severity appeals
- Managing indictable criminal matters from early stages through to finalisation
